Helge Lindh, born in Wuppertal in 1976, is a member of the Bundestag and cultural policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

He studied modern German philology, German linguistics, and modern and contemporary history, including regional history, at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. He has been active in the Social Democratic Party of Germany since 1999. As a member of the Bundestag for his hometown of Wuppertal, he advocates more humanity in politics and a diverse society.

In the Bundestag, he is a member of the Committee on Internal Affairs and Community and the Committee for Culture and Media Affairs. In the current 20th legislative period, he is also the cultural and media policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and heads the work of the Culture and Media Working Group. In addition, he chairs the Democracy Working Group and advocates for a strong civil society in the Civic Engagement Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Historical Museum Foundation, the Art Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation.

Er hat Neuere Deutsche Philologie, Germanistische Sprachwissenschaft sowie Neuere und Neueste Geschichte einschließlich Landesgeschichte an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf studiert. Seit 1999 engagiert er sich für die Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschlands. Als Bundestagsabgeordneter für seine Heimatstadt Wuppertal tritt er für mehr Menschlichkeit in der Politik und eine vielfältige Gesellschaft ein.

Im Bundestag ist er Mitglied im Ausschuss für Inneres und Heimat sowie im Ausschuss für Kultur und Medien. In der gegenwärtigen 20. Wahlperiode leitet er als kultur- und medienpolitischer Sprecher der SPD-Fraktion zudem die Arbeit der Arbeitsgruppe Kultur und Medien. Daneben leitet er die Arbeitsgruppe Demokratie und setzt sich für eine starke Zivilgesellschaft im Unterausschuss Bürgerschaftliches Engagement ein. Daneben gehört er dem Kuratorium der Stiftung »Deutsches Historisches Museum«, dem Kunstbeirat des Bundesfinanzministeriums sowie dem Stiftungsrat der Stiftung »Flucht, Vertreibung, Versöhnung« an.
